Questions people actually have

Answers about shared memory, privacy, model access and ownership.

Does Claudian upload my vault?

The installer keeps notes in your chosen folder. When a cloud AI reads selected notes, that context may be sent to its provider under its settings and terms. Local storage is not the same as local inference.

Does it need an API key?

The memory installer uses the AI applications you already have. Sign in through those applications; API credentials are only needed where your chosen provider or integration requires them.

Can different models use the same brain?

Supported applications can read the same Markdown folder through their installed memory skills. The protocol stays shared while host permissions and capabilities vary. Claude Desktop and web connectors require separate integrations.

Is this the official Claudian Obsidian plugin?

No. Claudian.app is an independent project, unaffiliated with that plugin, Anthropic, OpenAI or Obsidian.

Can I export or remove my memory?

Copy your Markdown folder to export it. Removing an AI connection in the desktop panel preserves your notes. You control the files and their backups.

What happens when a model gets something wrong?

Correct the relevant note so future conversations see the correction. Memory remains fallible. Use a backup or version-control system if you need a complete history of note edits.
