Privacy

Claudian is a second brain made of Markdown files on your own machine. This page describes what stays there, what leaves, and why.

Who is responsible

Claudian is built by Boran Birtanır, an individual developer; it is not yet a company. Privacy questions and requests go to boranbirtanir@hotmail.com.

Where your notes live

Your memory is a folder of Markdown files on your computer. Claudian reads and writes those files in place. It does not copy them to a server, does not sync them, and has no bulk upload of any kind. If you stop using Claudian tomorrow, the folder is still there and still opens in any editor.

What leaves your machine

One thing does: the context you allow. When you ask a cloud model a question, the specific notes or excerpts you permit are included in that request and reach that provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, or whichever you chose — under their terms and their retention policy. That is the same path any prompt takes.

Nothing is sent in the background, nothing is sent on a schedule, and no provider is given access to the folder itself. Read and write are separate grants, and a write always needs your approval.

Yüzük, the phone app

Yüzük turns what you record into a note. Recording starts and stops only when you tap it, and no audio file is created: the microphone signal is cut into short segments in memory, each segment is transcribed on your own computer (or, without a connection, on the phone) and then discarded. Only text is stored, and it is deleted once the note is written. Before any text reaches the AI you chose to write the note, rules on your computer remove ID, card, IBAN and phone numbers, spoken passwords, and other people's health, family and money details. The full policy, in Turkish, is at claudian.app/yuzuk/gizlilik.

Cookies

Claudian sets one cookie, claudian_session. It records that this browser signed in with a valid access code — nothing else. It is httpOnly (JavaScript cannot read it), SameSite=Lax, marked Secure over HTTPS, and expires after 60 days.

There is no analytics cookie, no advertising pixel, and no third-party cookie on this site. Because the only cookie is strictly necessary to keep you signed in, there is no consent banner to click through. If that ever changes — if analytics or any non-essential cookie is added — consent will be asked before it is set, and this page will say so.

Logs

Claudian keeps an audit log on your machine at ~/.claudian/audit.jsonl: what changed, when, and the reason it was written. It is a local file. It is not transmitted anywhere and you can read or delete it like any other file.

Export and deletion

There is no request to file. Copy the folder and you have exported everything. Delete the folder and nothing of it remains. If you keep it in git, every write is already a diff you can inspect and revert.

Children

Claudian is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your machine, the change will be described here with a new date at the top rather than folded in silently.
